How to plan a room in 3D before buying furniture
Measure your room, draw its shape, place furniture and compare two layouts before you buy.
Start with the room, not the sofa
Measure each wall and note the position of doors, windows and fixed features. Record dimensions in centimeters. Check whether measurements describe the inside of the room or an outside wall face: mixing these produces an inaccurate layout. Keep your original measurements nearby while you work.
Draw and check the room outline
Choose Draw my room in Home Studio. Enter the room dimensions and adjust the corners to reflect recesses or an L-shaped room. Add doors and windows where they belong. Review the outline before placing furniture; an incorrect wall length affects every distance you check later.
Use overall furniture dimensions
Add items from the library, enter your own dimensions, or import a product link. Use the complete width, depth and height. A mattress size is not the full size of a bed frame. For an L-shaped sofa, check both the overall footprint and which side contains the chaise.
Compare two practical arrangements
Keep your first arrangement in layout A and try another in layout B. Check the space between furniture, the route through the room and access to doors. Use the inside view to understand the arrangement. Required clearance varies with the furniture and your needs; confirm it physically in the room.
Save the layout and check before ordering
Save your project to your account and download a project file as a separate copy. A 3D layout helps you evaluate fit, but the furniture model is approximate. Compare the original product photo and confirm the seller’s dimensions, access requirements and delivery route before purchasing.
